Marine Mechanics currently has a very exciting opportunity to join the team as a Safety Team Coordinator. This is a fast-paced, client-facing role that will allow you to build specialist knowledge of marine safety servicing, including Life-Saving Appliances (LSA) and Fire- Fighting Appliances (FFA).

ROLE PURPOSE

This role covers the day-to-day coordination of the Safety team’s LSA and FFA service activities, and the planning and arrangement of annual lifeboat and davit servicing for vessels. You will act as the central point of contact between clients, service technicians and suppliers to ensure every job is delivered on time, in full and in compliance with regulations.

You will undergo comprehensive training from our in-house safety experts, following which you will be competent to coordinate all disciplines of LSA and FFA servicing.

This is a full-time, permanent position based at the Marine Mechanics (MMPL) office in Chennai.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Following training on all aspects of marine safety servicing, your responsibilities will include:

  • Receiving, logging and coordinating LSA and FFA service enquiries and requests from clients.
  • Planning and arranging annual lifeboat, davit and release-gear servicing for vessels, and scheduling attendance to suit port calls and vessel schedules.
  • Coordinating service technicians, tools, spares and travel to ensure jobs are attended promptly and efficiently.
  • Liaising with vessels, owners, managers, agents and suppliers on scheduling, scope of work and requirements.
  • Preparing quotations and following up with clients to convert enquiries into confirmed jobs.
  • Ensuring accurate and timely issue of service reports, certificates and records on completion of each job.
  • Maintaining service records and tracking due dates so that vessels remain compliant with survey and servicing intervals.
  • Providing a professional and courteous service to clients, and responding promptly to any queries they may have.
  • Communication with clients, the Service team and fellow team members to ensure smooth delivery of work.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent, preferably in a Marine, Mechanical, Electrical or related discipline.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and coordination skills.
  • Well organised, with the ability to manage multiple jobs and deadlines at once.
  • Flexible approach to work with a can-do attitude and a genuine willingness to learn.
  • Strong work ethic, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a small team.
  • Keen attention to detail for accurate data handling, and familiarity with the MS Office Suite.
  • 0–3 years of experience; freshers are also encouraged to apply.
DESIRABLE
  • Awareness of SOLAS requirements for LSA and FFA, and of lifeboat servicing regulations.
  • Experience in the marine, shipping or safety-servicing industry.
  • Experience with any ERP system.
